Talk about “artificial intelligence” - also referred to as “A.I.” or just “AI” - is everywhere these days, even though Americans clearly don’t trust it.
There are a ton of reasons for that, including that fact that most AI isn’t really artificial intelligence at all, but LLMs - Large Language Models. Effectively, they’re Mad Libs on steroids, machines trained on filling in the blanks that humans provide them, with answers that seem to be vaguely correct, but have zero fact-checking.
Americans overwhelmingly understand that these machines aren’t intelligent, they’re wary about them, and they clearly see the risks outweigh the benefits currently. Americans with less impulse control are already violently acting out against AI & tech execs, as the backlash against the technology grows.
Of course, that hasn’t stopped Wall Street or the Big Tech corporations from continuing to push rosy predictions about a supposedly magical future that’s always just around the corner. It also hasn’t stopped the Trump regime from being bullish on AI either, even if Americans are not.
The reasons behind the push for AI aren’t altruistic, especially under the current corrupt authoritarian Trump regime. Anyone with any awareness of current events knows the Trump regime, AI, & the tech and crypto industries are all in bed together. Unfortunately, due to the Trump regime’s disastrous economic policies, AI is now the primary sector holding up the economy. The AI bubble is even holding up global markets, despite the massive oil & energy shock from Trump & Netanyahu’s stupid Iran War.
But the folks who are nominally in charge may finally be beginning to understand the machines - or rather, the small group of individuals who control the machines.
Indeed, a growing number of investors are realizing they’ve become far too dependent on the AI sector for their market gains. Even the incompetent Trump regime, who’ve allowed the AI & crypto industries to run rampant are now starting to reconsider some meager AI regulation.
That said, until we get a legitimate federal government again, and Wall Street’s investment class wakes up to who’s really playing the tune, all of our leaders are dancing to a tune being played by dangerously dumb machines.
