As we reminded you here last week, in digital ink and with plenty of links to reputable news sources, the second major Trump farm crisis is already happening, and it was completely avoidable.
Still, there are those who didn’t believe Trump’s Ag Sec. Rollins & Treasury Sc Bessent could be so incompetent & so clueless, let alone so out of touch with each other, that they’d be working at cross-purposes, and end up making things worse.
And yet, over the weekend, photographic proof came out that proved we were once again correct.
AP photojournalist Angelina Katsanis, at the U.N meetings last week, took a picture over the shoulder of Sec. Bessent that captured part of a text message from Ag Sec. Rollins, who is rolling through the midwest trying to sell farmers on Trump’s vague promise to give them aid.
But as journalist Edith Olmsted noted in her writeup at The New Republic, it’s clear that Bessent and Rollins didn’t really communicate, and instead have just added to the financial chaos & bloodletting from Trump’s incomprehensibly stupid policies.
If Trump had chosen competent secretaries, they might have planned ahead and communicated to avoid the current farm crisis as much as possible.
Of course, if farmers & rural voters hadn’t been so stupid to forget how badly Trump screwed them in his first term, that likely would have helped too.
Prior proper preparation is a great way to avoid disasters - but only if those with the power to make change, like voters, actually use it.
