For anyone who may have missed it, the Trump regime’s version of the SS, DHS & ICE, killed an unarmed, middle-aged, married, white, Christian mother in cold blood, at point-blank range yesterday in Minneapolis.
Her name was Renee Nicole Good. She was a U.S. citizen, born in Colorado, who never did anything more illegal than maybe have a parking or speeding ticket. She studied vocal performance & creative writing at Old Dominion University in Virginia, and won a prize in 2020 for one of her pieces.
She was a poet, a singer, & a devoted Christian, who’d gone on a mission trip to Northern Ireland as a teenager, and she also hosted a podcast with her second husband, who died in 2023.
Videos of her murder by members of ICE & DHS clearly show that she did nothing that warranted her being shot in the face and killed in the front seat of her SUV next to her current spouse. Multiple eyewitnesses have also confirmed what multiple videos show, that Nicole Marie Good posed no threat to the federal agents.
We mention all of these things here tonight as a way to remind everyone that while Ms. Good was a statistic, in multiple ways - for example, she was the ninth person shot by ICE/DHS agents since September - she was also much more than a statistic.
But to the roving ICE monsters of the Trump regime’s DHS, Ms. Good was a target for their bullets - and she’s since become a target for their lies and propaganda.
We realize there are countless numbers of non-white people who’ve experienced similar treatment to Ms. Good by those in authority during the history of the United States. For whatever reasons you may wish to ascribe, the fact is the murder of this one white woman seems to have finally woken up some Americans who’ve previously been sleeping through their civic responsibilities, falsely thinking the criminally corrupt regime of Donald Trump wasn’t that bad because it hadn’t attacked anyone like them yet.
Now, they realize they were wrong to say nothing, as Martin Niemöller warned in Germany during the 1930s.
Waking up to the realization that fascism has taken over your government is a hard thing to go through. But not waking up is even harder. Hopefully, more and more people will say they’ve had enough, and stand up to the authoritarian terrorists who are already drowning us in blood.
